Here’s a great tip to help you save time and effort when diagnosing a locked up engine. Brooks from Texas shares the cautionary tale of his own vehicle and how he and one of his best customer’s shops thought that the engine on his C1500 Silverado was locked up and required a replacement. Due to circumstances, he decided to send it to another customer’s shop for the actual work, only to have that other customer inform him that the source of the problem was a seized alternator. As the thread developed in response to his post, other technicians reported they have seen the same thing caused by other seized components, such as AC compressors.
