POWER – The calling card of Jump-N-Carry
Not only do we rate this model at 3000 Peak Amps, we also provide a Start Assist Amp rating of 550A for the JNC345. After all, Peak Amps don’t start vehicles, so the peak rating, while useful, doesn’t tell the whole story. Our Start Assist Amp rating tells you how much power you’ll get from our units for enough time to start your vehicle (and then some). In all honesty, there are a lot of units that make amp claims that defy logic and stretch reality. We have been around a long time and plan to be around a lot longer. We’re going to give it to you straight and avoid the headline, and Start Assist Amps give you your “what do I need to know.”
Another great sniff test is the operating temperature rating of a given unit. For instance, we rate the JNC345 as effective to -23˚F, which is a seriously low (in a good way) temperature rating. We see units with much higher amp ratings that also carry temperature ratings to 0˚F or -5˚F. If you see mismatches like this, it’s worth your time to ask, “Why isn’t this adding up?” Even if you live in a warm weather environment and will never see sub-zero temps, this temp rating is still relevant to you. If the JNC345 is significantly more powerful at -20˚F, it’s also that much more powerful at 70˚F or 90˚F.
SAFETY – An Absolute Must for Lithium Models
Lithium batteries are very energy dense. That’s why we can start a car with something as small as a cell phone. But all that energy density can cause problems if it is not managed correctly. That’s why all of our lithium models are certified to conform to UL2743, the prevailing safety standard for this class of product in North America. Of course, we go beyond those requirements, in an effort to ensure our customers are interacting with our products and the vehicles they service in the safest manner possible.
One differentiating feature of our units compared to many out there is that we build the safety into our units and not into the cables. This is important because, in a shop or home environment, you want to be sure that the unit is safe, no matter what output cables are connected to it. Building the safety into the unit takes all the guesswork out of the process. In addition, we often see units in the marketplace that carry warnings such as, “Avoid reverse connections.” This should be very troubling to a prospective customer. While we would always caution our users to take care when making vehicle connections, our lithium models have Reverse Polarity Protection and many other protections against common user errors. Again, we want to keep our customers as safe as possible when using our products.
CONVENIENCE – Exceeding Expectations
The third key element in a jump starter is convenience, and we excel here as well. All JNC lithium units include the wall charger (unlike many competitive units, which only include a charging cord). In fact, the JNC345 includes a QC3.0 fast charger to get your unit back to full charge quickly and safely. Plus, the JNC345 features 40” cables for extended reach, enabling easy connections on even large vehicles.
