Resolving Another No Crank / No Start Mystery

Sentra

This month’s edition of our Resource Article is from our old friend, Michael in Utah. In this case, he was called in to diagnose and resolve a Nissan Sentra that experienced an errant electrical short while it was being worked on by the vehicle owner. This resulted in a no crank / no start diagnostic mystery, and, after the shop throwing some parts at the issue, Michael was called in to find the root cause.

The only code in the vehicle was not related to the issue and everything checked out in such a way that it sure looked like this vehicle should be starting. He then started digging deeper into the way the vehicle was wired and found some oddities. This led him to the culprit, one that we’ve referenced in these pages many times before.
